Tour Canberra; Canberra was specially created to house and support the federal government, and is laid out around an artificial lake. Parliament House is a must-see, with its signature flagstaff and impressive architecture. Just down the hill is the gracious 1920s architecture of Old Parliament House, now an interesting museum. Between the two is the Aboriginal Tent Embassy, set up in 1972 to draw attention to land rights claims. Nearby find the High Court and the National Art Gallery. Visit Cockington Green, a stunningly detailed world of miniatures, and join the zookeepers for a Zooventure, where YOU get to feed the animals! Explore these and more with your expert personal guide, available 24/7 on your schedule!

Tips

  • The Zooquarium runs very special tours in which you can play with a cheetah, or feed lions and tigers and bears - oh my! - in the company of a keeper. You'll need to book a tour in advance, and plan the rest of your day around it.
  • Take two days to cover the ground if you like to linger over exhibits and take it all in slowly, especially if you want to spend much time at the art gallery.
  • Remember the Australian sun is strong - use sunscreen, wear a hat, and take something to cover your shoulders.
  • Canberra can be cold; it's at the foot of the Snowy Mountains, Australia's premiere ski destination. Unless it's summer, take a jumper or jacket.
  • Working Canberra centers on the business of government and the diplomatic corps. As a result it's a little more formal than other Australian cities, so keep that in mind if visiting an up-market restaurant.

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
