  • As with most Spanish cities, Alicante loves its siesta, so many places close from 2 to 4 or 5 pm. In the summer months, a lot of banks and municipal buildings are only open in the morning.
  • You will find a 'Calle Mayor' in most Spanish cities, which can be confusing because on a map they may have a different name. The 'Calle Mayor' is simply the main road in a town or city.
  • For shopping, head to the Calle Mayor's top boutique outlets, or to El Corte Inglés, Spain's favorite (and largest) department store. Alternatively, Alicante has numerous shopping malls, which are open all day and are easily reached - within minutes in a car or taxi - from the harbor area.
  • Tabarca Island is an enjoyable day excursion but be warned, this is best visited in summer since sunbathing, snorkeling, and strolling around the island are the main activities.
  • A car is not necessary if you are staying in the city of Alicante. There is a very good bus system and the tramline has recently added new links, including one to Benidorm.

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
