  • Christmas in New York gets very, very crowded. When taking pictures, it's considered good etiquette to stand at the edge of the sidewalk to allow the masses of locals and visitors to pass.
  • Hotel rates skyrocket in New York from late November through early January. If you're willing to be flexible, much cheaper same-day rates can be found on apps like 'Hotel Tonight.'
  • Do not accept rides from any cabs driving black towncars. They are unlicensed and often uninsured. If traveling by taxi, always take the yellow cabs found in abundance throughout the city.
  • If possible, avoid driving altogether. Spaces in parking lots are very hard to come by and often charge $75 per night or more. The streets are also gridlocked at all hours (except overnight) during the season and it can take upwards of an hour to travel less than a mile.
  • Most restaurants in the main areas of Midtown (Times Square, Herald Square, etc) are overpriced and have long wait times. For cheaper, quicker food options, head west to 9th and 10th avenues. This area is considerably less crowded and primarily populated by locals. There are also an abundance of options to satisfy every taste.

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
