Tips

  • Morro Bay is famous for its fog so be sure to dress in layers. You can always remove a sweatshirt when the sun is out. If you forget one, there are shops on the Embarcadero and in downtown offering a variety of souvenir shirts.
  • It's easy to get to Morro Bay no matter where you are coming from. There is airline service to the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport. Amtrak offers daily service into San Luis Obispo with the Coast Starlight and Pacific Surfliner trains. Greyhound Bus Lines service the area. There is local bus service between county towns. Rental cars are also available.
  • It's only a short drive to world famous State Historical Monument Hearst Castle. Spend an extra day to enjoy William Randolph Hearst's Enchanted Hill.
  • With two world-class wine regions nearby, plan another day to explore some of the 100+ wineries in the county. In the north is the Paso Robles wine region and in the south, the San Luis Obispo/Edna Valley region. Each area is distinctive and has their own specialty vintages, available at tasting rooms.
  • If you like long walks on the beach, then Morro Strand State Beach is the place for you. This is a beautiful stretch of shoreline made for long walks. Enjoy watching surfers (and wind surfers) at North Point as you walk, with the massive Morro Rock looming in the distance.

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
