Tips

  • This day tour of Wicklow County is completely self-guided... get away from the crowds and enjoy yourself!
  • All parking at Ireland's Dun Laoghaire Harbour is pay and display, so be sure to bring change with you. Parking is €2 per hour and regulations are strict: don't forget to pay for your spot. You don't want to end your day early, taking care of a clamped car and a ticket!
  • Be sure to dress in layers! Though you'll work up some body heat during your vigorous walk along Lower Lake, the high altitudes at Guinness Lake bring on some rigorous whipping winds.
  • In addition to dressing in layers, bring rain gear on your trip. Showers appear and disappear in the blink of an eye, and your walk around Lower Lake offers little shelter against the elements. It's best to be prepared: chances are likely that your umbrella and rain jacket will come in handy at some point.
  • Both caravan and wilderness camping are allowed in Wicklow County; however, no form of camping is permitted in Glendalough. Visit the Wicklow National Park website for information on how to obtain your camping permit.

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
