Tips

  • Pets are not allowed on trails at Arches, though they can stay in your car. Karen's Canine Campground in nearby Moab provides excellent dog daycare at a reasonable price.
  • Fiery Furnace tours are very popular and do sell out. It is best to reserve in advance on the National Park Service website.
  • Photographs of the colorful rocks will look best if taken either early or late in the day. The lower angle of the sun at those times tends to produce the best light and depth in your images.
  • Within the park, there aren't any restaurants or places to find something to eat, so you should plan to pack a lunch into the park in the morning.
  • If you're too tired or short on time to hike to Delicate Arch, drive to the Delicate Arch viewpoint. A long lens camera will produce a very nice shot of this famous arch. From the viewpoint, Delicate Arch really does look like a pair of cowboy chaps.
  • The Devils Garden parking lot has 150 spaces, but it does not have any overflow parking. If the lot is filled, you will have to wait for a spot to open up or come back another time.

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
