Tips

  • Don't attempt to drive a car into the city center. Parking is difficult and very expensive. Use one of the park-&-ride sites around the edges of the city.
  • Have plenty of change ready for the buses. Park-&-ride has automated machines so that you can buy your ticket at a discounted price before you get on the bus.
  • Punting fees are almost always negotiable, so haggle for the best price.
  • If you want to go inside some of the colleges, check their hours online before you visit. Many are closed during the lunch hour, and most are closed during exams in May and June.
  • If you need to use the buses for more than one return journey, you can buy an unlimited travel ticket on any bus. A Dayrider can be used anywhere around the city all day and a Megarider can be used for 7 days.

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
