Tips

  • The expansive Lincoln Park stretches along the lakefront from North Avenue in the southern extremity to Foster Avenue, just north of the Lake Shore Drive terminus at North Hollywood Avenue. As you travel farther north you will encounter fewer people; this is where more nature preserves are found.
  • Recreational facilities include 15 baseball areas, 6 basketball courts, 2 softball fields, 35 tennis courts, 163 volleyball courts, field houses, and a golf course.
  • The Chicago History Museum is located at 1601 N. Clark Street at North Avenue in Lincoln Park. CHS general information line: (312) 642-4600.
  • The Lincoln Park Conservatory and botanical garden is located at 2391 North Stockton Drive, next to the Lincoln Park Zoo. It is open daily; admission is free. Phone: (312) 742-7736.
  • Since Chicago's largest park has over 20 million visitors each year, second only to Central Park, it can be very busy on weekends and 'good weather' days. Thus, parking can be difficult or expensive. Try to arrive early to get one of the free parking spaces along North Stockton Street, or come by public transit.

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
