Tips

  • Bring a flashlight with you if you plan on being out after dark. Street lights are few and far between.
  • The local dogs are friendly and may follow you even if you don't give them food. They like to fight each other but seem harmless to the tourists, but I wouldn't pet them.
  • Many shops and stores in the village are closed between 12 and 3 in the afternoon for siesta. Plan your time accordingly.
  • Car and motorcycle rentals are numerous just be careful driving because you cannot obtain insurance. Don't let this deter you as there are not many roads or vehicles on the island. The biggest hazard will be livestock and wild horses near and on the road.
  • Reconfirm your flights to Easter Island 48 hours in advance. Flights are often oversold.

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
