Wine Tasting Tours – Paso Robles California

Paso Robles on the Central Coast of California is considered the fastest growing American Viticulture Area in the state. With more than 180 wineries it now rivals the northern wine regions of Napa and Sonoma. Many of these vineyards are located in the hilly country west of town and are referred to as The Far Out Wineries. Specializing in Rhone varietals, winemakers here have found the hidden secret is in the calcareous soil. Visitors will thrill to the variety in the tasting rooms, delight to a stay in unusual bed and breakfasts, and enjoy exploring the historical and natural wonders of the region.

Tips

  • Plan for a stay of several days to experience all the area has to offer.
  • Bed-&-breakfasts, hotels, motels, and campsites are all available nearby.
  • When tasting, be sure to ask questions. Go on the winemaker's tour to see how wine is made.
  • Have a designated driver or book a guided wine tour. Information for tours is available through the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce and the Paso Robles Wine Alliance.
  • Be sure to visit the lakes and attractions in the North County area. Everything from exotic animals in the zoo, water skiing, fishing, horseback riding, a WWII air museum, and the lore of the Old West at area museums is waiting to be explored.
  • Weekends are busiest at the wineries so, if possible, plan your visit during weekdays. Most wineries will accept special appointments, so call ahead.

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
