Tips

  • If you are a keen gardener, consider visiting Brisbane's gardens on a separate day. Get a map at the top entrance and then work down. Take the little road train for a comprehensive view, or join a guided tour, and eat at the excellent café.
  • If you have kids, allow more time at Brisbane's South Bank. Take your swimsuits and enjoy the palm-fringed swimming pools.
  • Remember the Australian sun is strong - use sunscreen, wear a hat, and take something to cover your shoulders.
  • The Queen Street area is full of shops, including brand name stores. Allow time for a weekday visit if shopping is your thing, otherwise pick the weekend and enjoy Brisbane's buskers and passers-by.
  • Although Brisbane and Melbourne are named after the English Victorian politicians, in Australia they are not pronounced in the English fashion. Say BRIS-bun and MEL-bun to sound like a local!

"Exciting, a whole new concept"
Around The World Travel Radio

"Even though I am a local, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and learning more about the history of the landmarks. The author's interest in the area comes through in his engaging style of writing. Being able to complete the tour at my own pace made it even
more enjoyable."
Flora Savitzky (Researcher)

"When the conference ended, I stayed in town on my own and used T4M's self-guided tour to decide which things in town I wanted to visit and what to see/do there. The guide was right every step of the way. Bottom line, this guide helped me make the most of my time in town."
