New Fall Travel App – Tour Boston on Smartphone

Boston Walking Tour

Boston Walking Tour

Whether you’re visiting Boston or exploring your own backyard, this new app for IOS and Android devices adds many useful navigational features to one of Tours4Mobile’s most popular digital guides; “Boston Walking Tour”.

Each point of interest (POI) is described in words (text and narration) and pictures, and the interactive map not only shows the landmarks but also the transitions – how to get from one POI to the next. Tours4Mobile has partnered with TOURRS, available in the app stores, to provide more advanced location-aware capabilities for better navigation.

The Boston Walking Tour was authored by local professional travel writer, Ken Lovering, who watched his hometown transform into a great walking city as its elevated expressway was banished underground, making way for the Rose Kennedy Greenway. A writer for the travel industry since 1997, Ken is a winner of the Solas Award and owner/chief copywriter of KL Marketing Communications. His clients include award-winning travel companies whose names enjoy international recognition. Today, he makes his home in southern Vermont, just a short drive from his favorite city. The tour includes:

  • Commonwealth Ave. Mall, Charles River Esplanade
  • 1st U.S. public botanical garden, 1st U.S. public library, 1st U.S. subway
  • Boston Common, Beacon Hill, the State House
  • Rose Kennedy Greenway, old Rowes Wharf, Bunker Hill Bridge
  • Historic Boston – Old State House, Quincy Market, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere’s house, Old North Church

Boston boasts a larger-than-life history; after all, the events that unfolded here founded a nation. But the heart of this city, its lovely green spaces, has an intimate feel that is best explored on foot. You can walk across Boston almost completely in park lands. Strap on your walking shoes, and you’ll see some of the city’s most historic buildings and places, with ghosts of patriots at every corner. And you’ll learn about some of Boston’s curious moments in history, that featured elephants – and a flood of molasses!
